| Braemar
is a village in Upper Deeside popular
with visitors and famous for the Braemar
Gathering, held on the first Saturday
of September each year. Members of the
Royal Family usually attend. Queen Victoria
attended Highland Games here as early
as 1850, when they were held in the grounds
of Braemar Castle (open to visitors).
The story of the Games and Gatherings
is told in the Braemar Highland Heritage
Centre within the village. Braemar is
an excellent walking centre and offers
a full range of outdoor activities, as
well as the highest golf course in the
UK!
