The Victorian Heritage Trail

CRATHIE
Crathie Kirk.

This tall cruciform granite-walled church replaced an earlier structure and was opened in 1895 by Queen Victoria. It is strongly associated with the Royal Family who, for generations, have attended services there while at Balmoral. It is open to the public (church business permitting). As well as a hexagonal pulpit made with 18 different kinds of granite, royal portrait busts can be seen, including one of Queen Victoria.
